How to Disable Fan Error in Bios Dell

I was working happening a Dell 7010 yesterday after acquiring a report that the workstation was producing a "hum" noise.

Upon comer, the workstation shodden up normally with zero issue and I could notice no more hum the least bit.  This unit is new and equitable installed last month.  To get on the condom side, thinking that something my be touching the sports fan blade, I opened the case and blew out any dust.  I then shut the PC downwardly and rebooted.  On this boot I got the substance:

"Wide-awake.  Previous buff failure.  Press F1 to continue."

I booted into Windows and so opened the case.  All fans were practical unremarkably, including the CPU fan.

I rebooted the car again and entered the BIOS.  In the system log, the above message was only message registered.

I am thinking that this might fair-minded be an disjunct incident but am looking any new suggestions as to what might have caused this.

Even though this whole is still subordinate warranty, they won't even think replacing information technology, Oregon some parts unless there is a total hardware failure.

Yes, that's just a warning that on the previous boot the fan had an error.  It's been for a while since I've worked on a Dell, but I believe their diagnostics disc had a fan test.

You can shut down th machine, and spin the fans by mitt to run into if they turn freely.  You send away too limpid the log in the BIOS.  How hoar is the Dell?  Did you notice any dreadful caps?

I did all of that except unmistakable the BIOS message atomic number 3 I want to keep information technology.  It's a new Dell 7010 and no on any bad caps.

Boot the machine and weigh F12, choose Nosology and let it run and check all ironware.

If anything will fail you should see IT during the test.

If everything checks out okay then this is just an isolated case. I recognize what you mean when Dell doesn't send a refilling non until in that respect is add hardware failure. Anyway if a hardware failure can follow repeatedly sensed using their Diagnostics software, they bequeath do a replacement.

Hi Steve,

I'd definitely agree with Chip - running the Dell Diagnostics (F12 at the POST screen, select Diagnostics from the Boot Menu) will test the fan for issues. If you get an error, that will be enough to replace the lover.

Given that you've already contacted Technical Living for this issue, we testament have IT along lodge that you have had this error substance regarding the sports fan. Clearing the misplay message from the Event Logs in the BIOS wish stop you from continually having to imperativeness F1 connected flush and if the wrongdoing subject matter happens again, I'd say that should be enough to have it replaced.

Let me know if it happens again and I'll get this one taken care of for you.

Thanks!

If the intramural nosology does non pick upward an misplay in the fan come across if the Dell technician will go for a screen capture of the bios logarithm incoming.  And father't represent surprised by the quick fan loser, I have ternary 7010 small form factors and to each one has had the cpu fan replaced multiple times.
